Abstract: The Daguan Gold Mine in Qianxinan Autonomous Prefecture is located in the east of the Yunnan-Guizhou-Guangxi gold deposit concentration area. It has a very good geological background and conditions for mineralization. However，since its discovery 30 a ago，there have been no major break⁃ throughs in mineral exploration. At present，only one small gold deposit has been newly discovered. Through the analysis and research of the geological data of the mining area and the geochemical data of the soil and rocks in the southwest section，it was found that the previous mineral exploration work mainly focused on the T/P interlayer slip structural zone with the characteristics of Au ore body halo element enrichment on the sur⁃ face，while ignoring the lock mouth rock fault zone with the characteristics of As，Sb and Hg leading edge halo element enrichment on the surface. The study adopted the characteristic of the primary halo zone of the deposit and suggested that there might be an enrichment of halo elements in the Au ore body in the deep part of the Lock Mouth rock fault zone，with great potential for mineral exploration. Through drilling engineering verification，a thick and high-grade concealed gold ore body was discovered deep in the Lock Mouth rock fault zone，achieving a breakthrough in mineral exploration in this area. This makes it have the potential to become a medium to large gold deposit，further indicating the direction of mineral exploration in this area and expanding the resource prospects of this area.
