Experimental Study on the Preparation of Cementitious Materials from Iron Tailings of the Suspension Roasting Magnetic Sparation of Jiuquan Iron and Steel Company

Abstract: In order to develop and utilize the iron tailings of suspension roasting magnetic separation in Jiuquan Iron and Steel Co.,Ltd.,the properties of tailings and the preparation of cementitious materials were studied. The results show that the main component of the tailings is SiO2,with content of 41.11%,fol‐ lowed by iron,with content of 14.61%,the content of Al2O3 is 2.69%,and the content of CaO is 5.28%, which belongs to low silicon and low aluminum type low activity slag. When the ratio of cementitious materi‐ al is 30% of suspended roasting magnetic separation tailings,55% of cement and 15% of slag powder,mi‐ cro-activator is added for chemical activation. The activator sodium fluoride content is 4% of the cementi‐ tious material,the coagulant aluminum sulfate content is 4%,and the reinforcing agent glass fiber content is 5%. The fine tailings of Baixiangshan concentrator are used as aggregate to carry out tailings cementation test. Under the condition of cement-sand ratio of 1∶4 and solid mass concentration of 66.67%,the compres‐ sive strength of mortar test block at 3,7 and 28 d is 2.02,2.60 and 3.55 MPa,respectively,which can meet the requirements of mine tailings filling strength.
