Abstract: Due to the insufficient storage capacity of tailings in a copper mine,it is facing the dilemma of being shut down. In order to prolong the service life of the mine, aiming at the problem that the flotation tailings have high sulfur content and cannot be directly used as building materials, the flotation tailings sulfur reduction test was carried out. It is found that the sulfur grade of tailings can be reduced from about 2.00% to less than 0.50% by flotation method, and the standard sulfur concentrate with sulfur grade of more than 35.00% can be obtained. According to the test results, combined with the actual production, the process flow, equipment selection and configuration scheme design were carried out. After the completion of the project, the tailings containing 0.38% sulfur were obtained, which met the requirements of building materials. At the same time, the standard sulfur concentrate with sulfur grade of 35.68% and recovery rate of 80.86% was obtained, which improved the economic benefits of the enterprise, mine tailings resources have been effectively developed and utilized.
