Geological Characteristics of Mineralization and Prospecting Direction of Copper Polymetallic Ore in Yangtan Area of Shexian County

Abstract: The Yangtan area of Shexian County is located in the northern part of the eastern section of the Qinzhou-Hangzhou mineralization belt. It is a mineralization belt of metals and non-metals such as cop‐ per,tin,tungsten,tantalum and niobium,uranium,gold,silver,lead and zinc. The folding,fault struc‐ tures and magmatic rock activities are intense. It has also developed favorable mineralization strata such as the Lantian Formation,Xiuning Formation and Hetang Formation,and has good mineralization potential. In previous geological exploration work,two copper polymetallic mineralized bodies have been discovered in the study area,mainly located in the upper section of the skarn alteration zone of the Xiuning Formation and the fractured zone of the Hetang Formation. Surface mineralization tracing control has found that the scale of mineralization is limited,but it can point out the direction for the next mineral exploration. By comprehen‐ sively analyzing the geological and physicochemical exploration anomaly characteristics in the area,con‐ ducting rock and mineral identification and rock mass dating work,analyzing the relationship between min‐ eralization and the strata,structures and magmatic rock activities in the area,summarizing the mineraliza‐ tion laws,it is comprehensively concluded that: The high-abundance elemental strata such as the Lantian Formation,Hetang Formation and Xiuning Formation in the study area provide effective material sources for mineralization. The highly developed fold structures offer favorable space for mineralization. Multiple sets of fault structures in the northeast,northwest and north-south directions provide good migration channels for deep magmatic hydrothermal fluids. Eventually,mineralization is enriched at the superposition of rock mass‐es and favorable surrounding rocks,as well as at the folds and fault structures. The research pointed out the next direction for mineral exploration in the area,with the aim of achieving a breakthrough in mineral explo‐ ration.
