Abstract: In response to the large-scale fragmentation during the final mining period of the 1302 working face of Yuwu Coal Industry Co.,Ltd.,accompanied by local leakage and collapse phenomena, the tail end supports numbered 124# ~130# experienced severe pressure relief, severe support compression, and difficulty in movement. The coal pillars in the end area and the return airway in the advance area were severely fractured, posing a serious threat to the safety of mining in the working face. It has been deter‐ mined that the main causes of roof fracture are the multi stress shear failure of the roof, low support strength, and large suspended roof area. Joint support methods such as "artificial false roof + composite beam anchor cable+pipe shed grouting+portal sliding steel shed" have been proposed. The actual applica‐ tion effect shows that after adopting joint support, during the later stage of mining,no collapse was ob‐ served on the roof of the tail end. The maximum subsidence of the roof in the end area was reduced to 0.17 m,and the maximum subsidence length of the coal pillar at the end was reduced to 0.8 m. The maximum subsidence of the roof in the leading area along the groove was 0.14 m,and the maximum convergence of the two sides was 0.29 m. The maximum bottom bulge was 0.33 m,and the distance between the end faces was reduced to 0.28 m. The mining speed was increased to 6.4 m/d.
