Abstract: In order to improve the efficiency of tailings treatment and avoid the decrease or stop of grinding and separating production due to the untimely treatment of tailings，aiming at the problems of high viscosity or water content of filter cake，high consumption of filter cloth，filter plate and pump parts，low operation efficiency and high maintenance cost in the process of tailings pressure filtration in an iron mine， the dosage of PAM flocculant and the parameters such as feeding pressure，feeding time，pressing time and back flushing time during the operation of filter press were studied. It is found that the accurate dosage of PAM flocculant can effectively solve the problem of high viscosity of filter cake. Adjusting the operating parameters of the filter press can effectively reduce the moisture of the filter cake; selecting the appropriate filter cloth is the best solution to improve the treatment efficiency of the filter press. In addition，timely maintenance and strengthening management are conducive to improving the efficiency of tailings treatment， reducing consumption costs，and ensuring the stable，efficient and economic operation of the filter press.
