Abstract: The tailing pond in Zhejiang Qingyuan Lead-zinc Mine contains a large amount of heavy metals such as lead and zinc，which has brought great hidden safety hazards and environmental risks to the surrounding areas. In order to ensure the safety of the tailings pond and reduce the impact on the surround⁃ ing environment，the measures of "four horizontal，three vertical，two solid，one flat and one green" in practice of closing the tailing pond and urban forest park was introduced，which makes tailings pond into an urban forest park. It not only solves the safety risk，environmental risk，social impact，land occupation and other problems caused by the massive stockpiling of tailings，but also expands the local urban area to the surrounding forest mountain environment，promoting the harmonious development of society，which opens up ideas and sets an example for the treatment of similar heavy metal tailings ponds.
