Abstract: Using granite rare metals, mainly of niobium and zirconium, in Inner Mongolia as research object, the optimal tailings discarding mode and feeding size was determined through magnetic separation, gravity separation and selective grinding tests according to the mineralogy properties. Comprehensive recovery of the ore was achieved through magnetic separation, flotation and gravity separation united process. The results showed that magnetic separation, flotation and gravity separation united process solve the problems of valuable minerals distributed in fine grains and hard to liberate, and low recovery of valuable minerals. Rare earth concentrate with REO grade of 38.005% and recovery of 63.26%, niobium concentrate with Nb2O5 grade of 7.752% and recovery of 7.752%, zirconium (hafnium) concentration with Zr(Hf)O2 grade of 53.554% and recovery of 53.554% was achieved separately. The useful minerals in the ore such disseminated extent is small, hard monomer dissociation, the shortcomings of comprehensive recovery rate is low, and eventually won the.
