In order to explore the influence of stress path on the mechanical properties of iron tailings sand, triaxial consolidation drainage tests under different stress paths are carried out on iron tailings sand, and the stress-strain characteristics, shear strength, deformation characteristics and secant modulus of iron tailings sand under different stress paths are analyzed. The results show that the strength and cohesion of the specimen under the constant confining pressure and increasing axial compression stress path are the largest, and the strength of the specimen under the constant axial pressure and unloading confining pressure stress path is the smallest. The axial strain under the constant confining pressure increasing axial compressive stress path increases with the increase of the average effective stress, while the average effective stress un⁃ der the unloading confining pressure increasing axial compressive stress path remains unchanged, but the axial strain increases rapidly. The axial strain under the constant axial pressure unloading confining pressure stress path increases with the decrease of the average effective stress. When the stress path angle increases, the secant modulus also increases. When the stress path is constant, the secant modulus is proportional to the confining pressure.Through the above research, the mechanical properties of tailings dam under differ⁃ ent engineering conditions can be effectively evaluated, which provides a basis for analyzing the stability of tailings dam.
