Abstract: When the geofabriform retaining wall is used above the closed ring of open pit to enlarge the backfill yard, the stability of the geofabriform retaining wall is directly related to the safety of cemented backfill treatment of tailings in open pit. Based on the actual working conditions of an open-pit mine,a twodimensional model of cemented backfill geofabriform retaining wall in open-pit mine was established by using Slide. The stability of two different retaining wall forms was analyzed, and the safety factors of geofabriform retaining walls in different areas were calculated under two working conditions: dead weight with or without seepage field and dead weight + earthquake. The results show that the geofabriform retaining wall can satisfy the current backfill height +808 m and the design final backfill height +840 m for the safety of tailings cementing backfill operation. Even considering the maximum rainfall runoff and backfill secretion, the safety factors of the weakest profile are 1.333~1.810 and 1.159~1.713,which both meet the limit values required by the specification.
