The Beneficiation Processing Transformation for Copper-cobalt Oxide Ore Replacing Copper-cobalt Sulphide Ore in Democratic Republic of the Congo

Abstract: A copper-cobalt sulphide ore Dressing plant in Democratic Republic of the Congo altered to treat copper-cobalt sulphide ore,so the beneficiation process need to be adjusted widely. The specific retrofit content and production indexes situation were introduced so as to extent the successful transforma⁃ tion experience. The retrofit content was introduced as followed: ① The reform of grinding workshop is mainly to increase the size of 15 mm,reduce the filling rate of the steel ball of the semi-self-mill from 10% to 7.5%,adjust the steel ball addition of the ball mill from a single ϕ60 mm ball to ϕ60 mm and ϕ80 mm ball half and half,and reduce the amount of steel ball addition of the ball mill. ② The transformation of flotation workshop is mainly to change the independent process of one roughing,two scavenging,three cleaning and middling return in order in the upper and lower working areas into a two-stage process of six open circuit roughing,namely,three consecutive roughing processes after dosing centralized stirring,and three consecutive roughing processes after tailings dosing centralized stirring. At the same time,dosing was changed from each operation to each flotation machine,and a stirring drum was added to adjust the direc⁃ tion of slurry pipeline according to the flow. ③ The transformation of dehydration workshop is mainly to ad⁃ just the speed of thickener,flocculant and its dosage. The grade of copper and cobalt in oxidized concen⁃ trate after transformation is 10.74% and 1.07%,and the recovery is 83.40% and 66.65%,respectively, reaching the expected production indexes.
