Abstract: For a copper ore in Yunnan,a systematic process mineralogy study was carried out in or⁃ der to provide a basis for the formulation of reasonable beneficiation and smelting process. The results showed that, the ores contains copper of 0.45%,copper sulfide of 55.56% and bonded copper oxide of 36.44%. The main copper minerals are chalcopyrite,chalcocite,arsenic-calcium copper, and the main gangue minerals are quartz, calcite, tourmaline and mica. The structures and textures of the ores are com⁃ plex and composed of many structural types. The copper minerals are characterized by fine disseminated grain size, complex symbiosis and low minerals content, which are unfavorable for monomer dissociation of useful minerals and extremely difficult for effective separation. Therefore,it is suggested to recover copper minerals in the ores by means of a combination of beneficiation and metallurgy, that is,to recover part of copper sulfide minerals by flotation, and then to recover copper oxide minerals by acid leaching.
