Abstract: High intensity magnetic separation preconcentration concentrate from flotation tailings of a domestic iron concentrator has an iron grade of 30.63%,and the content of main impurities SiO2 is 40.78%. The content of main harmful components like phosphorus and sulfur is low. Hematite-limonite,magnetic iron, carbonate iron accounts for 62.79%,17.59%,12.23% of the total iron, respectively. Magnetic roasting and low intensity magnetic separation process was studied in order to efficiently recover iron. The results showed that under the conditions of total gas volume of 600 mL/min,H2 concentration of 20%,reduction roasting temperature of 520 ℃ and reduction time of 20 min,the iron content of roasted clinker increased to 33.00%,and iron mainly existed in the form of magnetic iron. Hematite-limonite and carbonate iron in the samples were mostly converted to magnetic iron. Under the condition of grinding fineness of -600 mesh accounting for 87.04% and magnetic field strength of 119.43 kA/m,low intensity magnetic separation was carried out. The iron concentrate with iron grade of 64.12% and recovery rate of 71.81% was obtained and iron recovery from the sample was well realized.
