Abstract: In order to provide technical basis for the development and utilization of a large scale low—grade strong copper nickel oxide sulfide ore in Xinjiang, the mineralogy research of a copper—nickel sulfide ore and bulk flotation was studied. The result shows that ①the grade of copper and nickel are 0.075% and 0.57% separately, both copper and nickel minerals exist in form of sulfide phase,in which garnierite is hard to be utilized; ② The main useful minerals are chalcopyrite and nicopyrite,of which both can be concentrated via flotation, olivine exist as main mineral in gangue; ③The pattern of nicopyrite is idiomorphic or half—idiomorphic homogeneity under microscope,in which nicopyrite particles shown in irregular form or disseminated with pyrrhotite or chalcopyrite in different pattern are easy to be concentrated via flotation.Meanwhile, part minerals are hard to be utilized due to the size of which exist in the pattern of the disseminated or the ore shows typical inequality disseminated grains, which is too fine to be liberated while grinding. Most chalcopyrite shows in the form of irregular and disseminated in gangue sporadically; ④ Mixed concentrate with the nickel grade of 9.17%,copper grade of 1.57%,nickel recovery 68.01%,copper recovery 87.37% was achieved while the grinding particle size was -0.074 mm accounted for 80% through the flow of one roughing one cleaning two scavenging, and middling return to the process in sequence. The enrichment of copper and nickel is relatively well.
