Geological Characteristics and Ore-controlling Factors of Mulatong Pb-Zn Deposit,East Tibet

Abstract: The tectonic position of Mulatong Deposit is located at the north eastern boundary of Bangong-Nujiang ophiolite belt,belonging to the northern part of Sanjiang Metallogenic Belt,and the metallogenic geological conditions are good in the area.The metallogenic geological background of the mining area is summarized from four aspects,such as strata,structure,magmatic rock,1∶50 000 stream sediment survey,and the anomalous characteristics of stream sediment survey and geochemical profile of the rocks are discussed,besides that,the ore-controlling factors are summarized.The study results show that:①Mulatong Pb-Zn Deposit has good prospecting potential,the intersection of the two groups of NW trending secondary faults in the area is the main ore-holding space;②favorable sections of the ore-forming zone has obvious abnormal combination of Ag,As,Cu,Pb,Sb,Sn and other elements,and the anomaly concentration center is more prominent;③there is no obvious genetic relation between the source of metallogenic materials ultrabasic rock blocks,but genetic relationship with the porphyrite dike and the source of metallogenic materials is existed;④silicification and ferritization are the important indirect prospecting indicators,and the Pb-Zn oremelt) outcrop and limonite ore belt in the surface of mining area are the direct prospecting indicators;⑤the ore shapes are mainly for invaded and veined,the ores with the shapes of crumby and breccia are mainly distributed in the fractured zone.The above study results related to Mulatong Pb-Zn Deposit can provide reliable reference for the further prospecting work of nonferrous metal mineral resources such as copper,lead and zinc in the east section of Bangong-Nujiang ophiolite belt.
