Geological Characteristics and Prospecting Potential of the Chengtangdi Graphite Mining Area in Inner Mongolia

Abstract: Chengtangdi graphite mining area in Inner Mongolia is located in the northern margin of the North China Platform,the eastern part of Yinshan Uplift,it is belongs to EW-NEE trending advanced metamorphic rocks region in shanxi Province,Hebei Province and Inner Mongolia.Based on the geological working results and geophysical working results in the area,the geological characteristics and geophysical characteristics of the graphite deposit in the area are discussed,besides that,the favorable prospecting indicators of the mining area are summarized.The study results show that:①the graphite deposit is distributed near the side of gneiss of the contact zone of marble and gneiss of the Upper Section of Jining Formation,graphite mineralization is closely related to pyritization,the geophysical characteristics of the deposits is expressed as high polarization,mediumhigh resistance,mediumhigh time constant and low frequency correlation coefficient,the above characteristics can be taken as the favorable prospecting indicators in the mining area;②the graphite gneiss formation is widely distributed in the mining area,the graphite resources (334 resources) is bout 1 million t by prediction,the deposit genesis is belongs to crystalline graphite deposit with large scale,the prospecting potential of the mining area is good.
