Abstract: Pillar and its stability are the core factors of the research work of stope stability. So,three groups of man-made pillar physical models are obtained by granite samples, the acoustic emission instrument is adopted to analyze the time-space evolution characteristics of during the pillar failure process. The experimental results show that, acoustic emission is scattered at the initial loading step, with the loading increasing, acoustic emission start to gather gradually and nucleate in the internal fracture surface of pillar,as a results, the shear macroscopic cracks are appeared.During the total loading process, acoustic emission achieve two peaks at the end of elastic deformation and the start of producing plastic failure. The amplitude of acoustic emission is about 50 dB at the end of elastic deformation. When the loading reach the 90%of the peak stress, acoustic emission hits reaches the largest peak value at the total loading process.Since then, number of acoustic emission hits reduce step by step, but the large amplitude events (from 80 dB to100 dB) of acoustic emission hits start to increase gradually, the macroscopic creaks cut-through gradually and the damages will be produced. Therefore, the research results in this paper can provide some reference for predicting the damages of the rock samples in laboratory.
