Abstract: Fenghuangkeng silica deposit is a medium-sized silica deposit discovered in Jiangxi Prov⁃ ince in recent years. In order to find out the ore-controlling factors of the silica deposit，the geological char⁃ acteristics of the deposit are analyzed and the prospecting criteria are analyzed. The results show that the Fenghuangkeng silica ore consists of two ore bodies，occurring in the NNE tectonic fracture zone. The shape and occurrence of the ore body are strictly controlled by the tectonic fracture zone. Ore minerals are quartz，microcrystalline，fine-grained structure，mainly block structure，followed by crystalline holes， crystal clusters，breccia and so on. The ore type is dense massive quartzite type. The Fenghuangkeng silica mine is a hydrothermal filling deposit controlled by faults. The prospecting criteria are NE-trending and NNE-trending large faults，Yanshanian acidic granite bodies and protruding positive terrain ( ridges ).
