Abstract: The content of Fe,Al2O3 and TiO2 in the Bayer Red Mud samples from a Guangxi Alumi⁃ num Oxide Factory were 26.06%,17.53% and 5.32% respectively, and harmful substances phosphorus and sulfur were very low. The iron mainly exists in the form of hematite and limonite with the distribution rate of 96.85%. The main iron mineral is hematite, followed by limonite. The titanium mineral mainly ex⁃ ists in the form of perovskite, and gangue minerals are mainly in the form of calcium aluminosilicate hy⁃ drate, cancrinite, natisite and calcite. In order to recover the iron from red mud samples efficiently, the beneficiation experiments of direct reduction, grinding and low intensity magnetic separation process were carried out. The results showed that the direct reduction iron products with yield of 23.17%,TFe grade of 88.60% and iron recovery rate of 78.77% could be obtained under the conditions of anthracite addition of 30%,reduction temperature of 1 100 ℃,reduction time of 120 min, grinding fineness of -0.045 mm ac⁃ counting for 86.75% and magnetic field intensity of 103.50 kA/m,which indicated the better recovery ef⁃ fect of iron.
