Abstract: In order to ensure the safe and efficient mining of coal resources in the open-pit deforma⁃ tion area, the treatment and mining scheme of slope deformation area are studied based on an open-pit mine in China. The geological conditions of the deformation area were studied by collecting geological data, field geological survey and engineering geological investigation. The physical and mechanical indexes of coal and rock mass in deformation area are obtained by comprehensive analysis. The engineering geological model is established. The slope deformation and failure mechanism is studied by numerical simulation method, and the slope treatment and mining scheme is formulated according to the calculation results of slope stability. The results show that: ①the deformation of the slope deformation area is concentrated in the upper part, mainly settlement deformation, and the lower part has stress concentration under the influence of the upper gravity load. The slope deformation failure mode is "circular arc" deformation failure. ②The slope deformation area adopts the technical scheme of treatment before mining,so that the slope in the deformation area can achieve stability and meet the mining requirements.Treatment before mining is the best scheme to ensure safe and efficient mining in slope deformation area under normal working conditions, which has certain guiding significance for slope treatment and resource mining management under similar working conditions.
