Abstract: The iron concentrate produced by an iron ore dressing plant in Inner Mongolia contains high sulfur, and the sulfur minerals mainly exist in the form of pyrrhotite. Because of its fine disseminated particle size,it is difficult to remove it through the existing process of the dressing plant. In order to effectively reduce the sulfur content in the iron concentrate and improve the quality of the product, the grinding flotation process was developed by studying the process mineralogy with the iron concentrate produced by the concentrator as the raw material. The test results show that under the optimum process conditions, iron concentrate with total iron grade of 67.70%,iron recovery of 94.97% and sulfur content of 0.26% and sulfur concentrate with sulfur grade of 28.85% and sulfur recovery of 88.69% can be obtained, which provides a technical basis for sulfur reduction of iron concentrate in the concentrator.
