Abstract: Through the stability calculation and the analysis of monitoring data of a waste dump slope,it can be known that the slope is in an unstable state, and there is a weak layer at the foot of the edge slope of the waste dump, which is prone to instability failure under high water level conditions. Through indoor triaxial shear tests, the variation laws of the strength parameters C and ϕ values of bulk materials in the waste dump with soil saturation were mastered. Measures such as optimizing the slope structure parameters, lowering the water level line, and implementing reverse pressure at the foot of the slope are adopted. Research shows that when there is soil with low mechanical properties at the base and the water level is relatively deep, continuous stacking and drainage are prone to bottom drum failure. By optimizing the stacking and drainage of the overall slope of the waste dump with the approach of "small sec‐ tions of high height, wide platforms, and gentle slope angles",the slope angle is slowed down. In the silt area at the foot of the slope, block stones were thrown and filled, and materials were compacted in layers to increase the density of the materials and enhance the strength parameters C and ϕ values. The safety fac‐ tor of the slope met the specification requirement of 1.15,and the slope was in a stable state. The treat‐ ment effect was remarkable, providing a new method and a new idea for the comprehensive management of geological disasters.
