Abstract: Lithium is a strategic metal in the field of new energy, and its efficient development is cru‐ cial to global energy transformation. Salt lake brine accounts for 60%~65% of the world's lithium resource reserves. However, the separation problem caused by high ratio of Mg to Li makes the traditional lithium ex‐ traction method face problems such as poor selectivity, high energy consumption or environmental pollution. Titanium-based lithium ion sieve has become a hot research topic in lithium extraction from salt lakes due to its high lithium selectivity and stability of titanium-oxygen skeleton. The development technology of global liquid lithium resources, the synthesis method of titanium-based lithium ion sieve, the mechanism of lithium extraction and the latest achievements of doping modification are analyzed and reviewed focusing on the re‐ search progress of titanium-based ion sieve materials in lithium extraction from salt lakes. The existing prob‐ lems are pointed out and the future development is prospected, which provide reference for the material de‐ sign, synthesis process, theoretical mechanism and strengthening modification of titanium-based lithium ion sieves.
