Experimental Study on Settlement of Ore Washing Tailings of a Bauxite Mine

In order to solve the problem of difficult sedimentation of ore washing tailings and high over⁃ flow alkalinity of thickener in a bauxite mine of Yunnan,the sedimentation test of adding inorganic coagu⁃ lant aid,organic flocculant and mixed use of two kinds of agents to the ore washing tailings was carried out, and the turbidity of the sedimentation supernatant was detected.The test results show that under the condi⁃ tion of natural pH value of 7.3,the mixed use of 0.024 g/L APAM(12 million molecular weight)and 0.4 g/L polyaluminum chloride can effectively promote the settlement of washing tailings. The settlement compres⁃ sion rate reached 69.2% at 10 min,and the supernatant turbidity was only 43 NTU.At the same time,the re⁃ sults of infrared spectroscopy of the ore under the action of polyaluminum chloride + 12 million molecular weight APAM mixed reagent show that the adsorption of polyaluminum chloride and APAM on the surface of mineral particles was physical adsorption.
