Preliminary investigation and statistics were conducted on the geological conditions, ore body characteristics, and surrounding rock alteration characteristics of Chagan molybdenum gold polymetal⁃ lic deposit. Analysis and research were conducted on the controlling structures, magmatism, and ore-form⁃ ing processes of Chagan molybdenum gold polymetallic deposit. The sources of ore-forming materials, con⁃ trolling factors, ore body occurrence characteristics, and ore-forming models were discussed. The ore bod⁃ ies of Chagan molybdenum gold polymetallic deposit mainly occur in the Late Cretaceous acidic volcanic rock strata, especially in the Late Cretaceous stomatal rhyolite and spherical rhyolite strata. The ore type is molybdenum gold vein type, and the types of alteration are mainly silicification, potassium (sodium) feld⁃ spar mineralization, colloidal pyrite mineralization, hematite mineralization, chloritization, fluoritization, and carbonation. The ore-forming materials in the mining area mainly come from the volcanic rocks them⁃ selves,as well as the deep-seated magma sources during the volcanic eruption stage. The ore body is jointly controlled by the northeast oriented Luzikeng Fault and two sets of structures of different levels and direc⁃ tions in the northwest direction. The favorable areas for mineralization enrichment are the composite varia⁃ tion sites of structural branches, the contact interfaces of intrusive bodies, the development sites of frac⁃ tures, and the interlayer fracture zones. Multi stage and multi-stage alteration and mineralization are condu⁃ cive to the formation of thick molybdenum gold polymetallic ore bodies.
