Abstract: In order to study the influence of rainfall on the stability of tailings dam，taking a tailings reservoir in Yunfu，Guangdong as an example，Geo-Studio software was used to calculate the minimum safety factor of tailings dam under two working conditions of heavy rainfall and continuous rainfall based on the simplified Bishop method of limit equilibrium theory，so as to evaluate the stability of tailings dam. The results show that the minimum safety factor of the tailings dam under the two working conditions is greater than the minimum safety factor specified in the safety regulations of the tailings reservoir，indicating that the stability of the tailings dam meets the production requirements and there is no hidden danger of major production safety accidents. Combined with engineering practice，a brief engineering proposal is put for⁃ ward.
