Study on the Difficulties of Improving the Quality of Panzhihua and Baima Vanadium Titanium Magnetite Iron Concentrates

Abstract: With the deep extension of vanadium titanium magnetite stopes in Panzhihua and Baima mining areas,the beneficiability of the ore becomes worse and it is increasingly difficult to obtain high-qual⁃ ity iron concentrate. In order to clarify influence factors and seek ways to improve the quality of iron concen⁃ trate,the quality improvement test of iron concentrate and the detailed analysis of on-site concentrate were carried out on the basis of analyzing the main factors affecting the grade of iron concentrate and the difficul⁃ ties in improving the quality.The results showed that:①The main factors affecting the grade of iron concen⁃ trate are the category and content of titanomagnetite guest crystal minerals,and the physical properties of ti⁃ tanomagnetite and associated minerals.②Titanomagnetite is a composite iron mineral that can be used in va⁃ nadium titanium magnetite.Although considerable part of the solid solution isolate can be removed by fine grinding,it is unable to remove the isomorphs in improving the quality of titanomagnetite. ③The theoretical TFe grade of iron concentrate in Panzhihua mining area is 56.36%~61.36%,and that in Baima mining area is 59.26%~60.60%.④The upper limit of TFe grade of Panzhihua iron concentrate is 57.30% and that of Baima iron is 59.58% in the improvement test of iron concentrate.⑤The quality of Panzhihua iron concen⁃ trate on site is the worst and the TFe grade of Baima 2# concentrate obtained by regrinding and reselection of Baima 1# concentrate is the highest,which conform the conclusion of theory and practice.
