Failure Mechanism Analysis and Control Technology of Argillaceous Soft Rock Roadway

Abstract: The rock mass of Baishitamu Copper Mine in Xinjiang is soft and argillaceous,the roadway is prone to damage such as rib spalling and floor heave,the repair rate is as high as 70%.In order to realize safe and efficient support of soft rock roadway,roadway failure forms were investigated and analyzed,the mechanical parameters and hydrologic properties of roadway rock mass were tested,the failure mechanism of argillaceous soft rock roadway was revealed,a new active directional support method with resin bolt,steel mesh and shotcrete was adopted.Considering surrounding rock quality,roadway section,stress environment and service life of roadway,the zoning,grading and time-sharing support scheme for the broken soft rock roadway of Baishtamu Copper Mine was formed.The actual application results show that the roadway deformation is reduced by 20% and the deformation rate is reduced from 3.3 mm/d to 0.6 mm/d by using new support scheme.The repair cost is greatly reduced,and the roadway excavation cost is reduced by 14%,the economical benefits are significant.The above study results further indicate that the zoning,grading and time-sharing support scheme proposed in Baishtamu Copper Mine in this paper could help for improving the roadway stability,reducing the roadway repair costs and guaranteeing the safety production of the mine.
