Abstract: The Ghadames Basin in Libya is a large intracratonic basin of the Saharan Platform. The basin has obvious tectonic evolution characteristics throughout geological time. The basin is the important one in Libya and North Africa, the influence of the basin to the formation and storage of oil and gas resources in African continent is important.Based on analyzing the geological tectonic characteristics and sedimentation evolution characteristics of the basin, the history form of evolutionary development of the hydrocarbon source rocks, reservoir and cover of the basin is discussed, besides that the two important oil and gas system of the basin is also studied,so as to provide some reliable reference for further conducting oil exploration and development work in the basin.
