Physical and Chemical Characieristics and Soilization Potentiality of Titanium Gypsum Solid Waste

Abstract: In order to explore the environmental safety and feasibility of titanium gypsum as a soil matrix material,the mineral phase composition of titanium gypsum was analyzed by X-ray diffraction,the particle size distribution characteristics were determined by laser particle size analyzer,and the key nutri⁃ ent indexes such as available phosphorus and available potassium were determined by chemical analysis method. The potential of titanium gypsum soilization was evaluated from two aspects of material composi⁃ tion and nutrient basis. The results show that the main mineral composition of titanium gypsum is calcium sulfate dihydrate,and contains a small amount of iron oxide and other impurity phases. Particle size analy⁃ sis shows that it is mainly composed of silt components,and its texture is between silty loam and silty clay loam,which has a good foundation for water and fertilizer conservation. The results of nutrient determina⁃ tion showed that the content of available phosphorus was at a high level,and the content of available potas⁃ sium was relatively low,showing obvious characteristics of high phosphorus and low potassium. Therefore, titanium gypsum has the potentiality to be used as soil modifier or soil matrix material for greening,which can achieve safe and effective soil utilization.
