Abstract: In the past, the Liwu Copper Mine adopted the shallow-hole room-and-pillar mining method, leaving many top and bottom pillars to support the roof and surrounding rock. Due to the long peri⁃ od of storage, the recovery was difficult and the safety risks were high. To solve this problem,a study on the selection of mining plans and stability analysis was conducted for the high-value top and bottom pillar residual ore resources of the Liwu Copper Mine. Three mining plans suitable for the top and bottom pillar resources of the Liwu Copper Mine were proposed, and the mining process was elaborated and the advan⁃ tages and disadvantages were compared. Plan 1 is a mechanized pre-cutting of middle-depth holes in the top and bottom pillar backfilling mining plan. Plan 2 is a reserved casing route type cemented filling min⁃ ing plan(the lower middle section void area is not filled). Plan 3 is a reserved casing route type cemented filling plan(the lower middle section void area has been filled). The results show that Plan 1 has high min⁃ ing efficiency, but the workers are directly exposed to the void area during operation, resulting in high safety risks. Plan 2 requires certain bottom pillars to be reserved as casings to prevent the void area from being penetrated, which has certain safety risks. Plan 3 does not reserve casings at the lower part, and safe mining of the top and bottom pillars can only be carried out under the premise of ensuring the quality of the filling body. Based on this,a stability comparison analysis of the safe mining of top and bottom pillar resources was conducted, and it was concluded that in the case of not filling the lower middle section, the thickness of the casing should be guaranteed, and the void area casing should not be penetrated. In the case of filling the lower middle section, special attention should be paid to the development of joint fis⁃ sures and fractures in the top and bottom pillar void area and the casing.
