Abstract: In order to efficiently utilize a low-grade refractory phosphate ore in Leibo,Sichuan, the chemical composition, mineral composition, mineral dissemination characteristics and particle size, mono⁃ mer dissociation and intergrowth characteristics of the phosphate ore are systematically studied by means of chemical analysis, rock mineral identification,X-ray diffractometer(XRD)and mineral automatic analyz⁃ er(MLA).The results show that the phosphate ore belongs to low grade and high silicon magnesium sili⁃ ceous phosphate ore. The main mineral is apatite(collophanite),followed by quartz and dolomite, con⁃ taining a small amount of calcite, muscovite, pyrite. Apatite and dolomite are finely disseminated and closely associated with quartz. The results of process mineralogy and exploratory test show that high-quality phosphate concentrate products can be obtained by increasing the grinding fineness to improve the dissocia⁃ tion degree of minerals, and then pre-discarding the tailings by X-ray light separation, combined with flo⁃ tation process to remove magnesium(dolomite)and reduce silicon(quartz).
