Study on Process Mineralogy of a Refractory Iron Ore

In order to efficiently recover and utilize the low-grade refractory ore in an iron mine of the west,a detailed process mineralogy study was carried out on the ore in the west.The results show that the to⁃ tal iron grade of the ore is 37.25%,the useful minerals are mainly magnetite and hematite(limonite),the distribution rates are 90.85% and 4.27% respectively,and the main impurity SiO2 content is 21.97%. The ore mainly has massive structure and layered structure.The magnetite in the ore is mainly embedded in fine aggregates,which is closely related to gangue and is not easy to dissociate. The distribution rate of magnetite in the -0.07 mm fraction is 83.58%. Hematite is mainly secondary illusory ore,with less primary ore. The crystal size of hematite is smaller than that of magnetite,and all of them are distributed in -0.07 mm parti⁃ cle size.The grain size of mica and carbonate minerals is coarser than that of iron minerals.The distribution rate of mica in -0.07 mm fraction is 61.38%,the particle size of carbonate minerals is coarse,and the distri⁃ bution rate of + 0.07 mm is 58.50%.
