The operation of a tailings pond in use is close to the original design of the final accumula⁃ tion elevation, and it needs to be closed, but the buried depth of the existing infiltration line is close to the con⁃ trol of the buried depth of the infiltration line. In order to ensure the safety of the tailings pond after closure,it is necessary to enhance the drainage of the tailings pond dam body.An automated vertical drainage facility is proposed, and Geo-studio software is used to analyze the seepage flow and anti-sliding stability of the opti⁃ mized tailings pond. The results show that under different working conditions, the position of infiltration line calculated by finite element is basically consistent with that measured, and the safety coefficient of anti-slid⁃ ing stability is greater than the standard value. After the implementation of closure measures such as en⁃ hanced drainage, the stability of the dam body of the tailings pond is greatly improved, and the management is efficient and convenient, which has certain reference significance for similar closure projects in the future.
