In view of the large amount of over-excavation in the high-stage straight chute excavation blasting of an underground metal mine,it is proposed to reduce the amount of explosives and increase the decoupling coefficient to optimize the original large-diameter interval charge structure.Through theoretical analysis,it is proposed to replace the original 140 mm cartridge bamboo interval charging structure with a 70 mm diameter cartridge air interval charging structure. The effects of two kinds of smooth blasting charging structures are compared by numerical simulation calculation and field test. The results show that the rock mass damage is serious after the blasting of the 140 mm diameter cartridge interval charge structure, which is easy to lead to the problem of over-excavation,and the effect of smooth blasting is general. After blasting, the rock mass damage of the 70 mm diameter cartridge air interval charging structure is obviously weak⁃ ened, which is beneficial to the smooth blasting forming of the chute. At the same time,in order to improve the rock mass fragmentation in the smooth blasting process of small diameter cartridge, the number of auxil⁃ iary holes can be increased to ensure the smooth development of the chute.
