Research on U-shaped Steel Arch Support Technology in Water-rich and Easily Expansive Deformation Surrounding Rock

Abstract: Aiming at the problem of strong ground pressure in roadway caused by the poor stability of ore rock in an iron mine in Huaibei City,Anhui Province,in order to ensure the long-term stability of roadway and the safe production of mine,it is urgent to study efficient and reliable support control technol⁃ ogy. Based on the analysis of the limitations of traditional bolt-mesh-shotcreting and steel frame support under complex ground pressure conditions,the elliptical U-shaped steel arch support technology is intro⁃ duced for the roadway in the serious ground pressure section of the central mining area. With the closed ring characteristics,the supporting structure can uniformly bear the pressure of the roof and the two sides, and realize the effective constraint of the surrounding rock deformation. The engineering practice and long�term deformation observation show that after using this technology,there is no obvious instability phenome⁃ non such as floor heave and side wall bulging in the roadway,the stability is significantly improved,and the roof control effect achieves the expected goal. The research proves that the elliptical U-shaped steel arch support technology can efficiently adapt to the strong ground pressure conditions under the broken sur⁃ rounding rock,successfully solve the complex ground pressure roadway support problem,and provide a reliable technical reference for the roadway support of mines with similar geological conditions.
