Abstract: The Kamoya copper deposit is located in the northwestern part of the Zambia-Congo (DRC)copper belt. It is located in the mid-west of the Katanga arc copper-cobalt metallogenic belt. The northwest-trending structure turns to the nearly east-west direction, and is adjacent to the large-scale lay⁃ ered copper-cobalt deposits such as Musonoi and Kamoto. The ore-forming geological conditions are supe⁃ rior. On the basis of systematically analyzing the metallogenic geological background and geological charac⁃ teristics of the deposit, the genetic mechanism is discussed in depth, and the targeted metallogenic model is constructed. The study shows that the Neoproterozoic Luo'an Group is the core ore-bearing horizon of the deposit, which is composed of coastal-shallow-deep-sea clastic sedimentary rocks and carbonate rocks, among which the dolomite of the mine subgroup(R2)of the Katanga Supergroup is the main orebearing lithology. The Kamoya copper deposit and the Kambvo copper-cobalt deposit are located in the Ka⁃ moya-Kambvo nappe structure, which is cut by the structure to form multiple independent ore-bearing rhombic blocks. The sulfide minerals in the ore are mainly chalcopyrite, chalcocite, cobalt sulfide and bornite. Malachite, covellite and other oxidized minerals are developed on the surface-near surface and be⁃ side the fault. According to the law of mineralization enrichment and the characteristics of ore mineral as⁃ semblages, the metallogenic process is divided into four stages of initial metallogenic period, early diage⁃netic main metallogenic period, late hydrothermal transformation period and supergene enrichment period. In summary, the formation of the deposit is strictly controlled by both strata and structure. It is a typical sedimentary-hydrothermal reformed copper deposit in the Katanga copper-cobalt polymetallic metallogenic belt. The research results can provide theoretical reference for the exploration of similar deposits in the re⁃ gion.
