Abstract: In order to ensure the sustainable development of ecology，the environmental impact assessment of an iron mine construction project was carried out. By means of data collection and monitoring data analysis，through the historical traceability and environmental impact investigation of the site，the surrounding environment of the construction project during the construction period and the completion stage is evaluated according to the relevant national technical specifications. The basic situation of the iron mine construction project is introduced from the aspects of surrounding environment，environmental compatibility of project site selection，construction content and pollution production. At the same time，according to the data of environmental impact assessment report and acceptance monitoring report of construction project，the influence of project construction on atmosphere，water，sound，soil environment and solid waste was studied， and the corresponding environmental protection measures were put forward. The results show that by comparing the monitoring data of the report，there is no obvious adverse impact on the surrounding environment during the construction and completion stages of the project; in the case of no major changes in the production process，environmental pollution measures and other main projects，the continued operation of the project has little impact on the surrounding environment.
