Abstract: This paper briefly introduces the geologic characteristics of mining area,analyzes the relationship between weathered crust and kaolin ore,elaborates the geologic characteristics of ore body,and discusses the prospect of seeking kaolin ore from upper rock mass in accordance with the detailed investigation results of Danyuan kaolin ore.As is shown in the researches,firstly the mining area is located in the zone of subtropical monsoon climate where organic acid effects are strong and the water quality type of underground water is mainly medium and low salinity bicarbonate which is easy to turn rockforming mineral hydrolysis and alteration of aluminum silicate rock into the production of kaolin ore,and to form the kaolin ore of weathered residual type.Secondly,the landform of mining area is generally rounded top,gentle slope and wide ravine.Kaolin ore body mainly lies in the hilly area and hillside with gentle slope.Thirdly,Yanshanian mediumgrained muscovite monzonitic granite weathered crust is taken as the finest oreforming protolit with the highest natural whiteness.Mediumand coarsegrained porphyroid monzonitic granite ranks second.Fourthly,mining area is a largescale weathered residual type kaolin ore deposit with intensive sericitization granite weathered crust.Finally,the exposed range of granite base in Yanshanian upper rock mass is relatively wide,which provides better prospecting potential for completely weathered residual type kaolin ore deposit.
