Abstract: With the development of social economy, how to deal with the waste soil and slag reasonably, orderly, economically and environmentally has become an urgent problem to be solved in the earth rock project in the heavy rainfall area. However, for the earth and stone works in the rainforest area,a large area of waste dump is often required to be set up for the disposal of soil and slag, which has the characteristics of "large quantity and concentration".In order to ensure the effective capacity of the waste soil, the waste dump is often set in the valley. How to ensure the foundation treatment, see page layer construction, layered filling and rolling is the key to the quality control of the dam construction in the rainforest area.Taking the mining industrial site Project of Mirador Copper Mine in Ecuador as an example, the project has a large amount of earth rock excavation work, and the project faces such outstanding climatic characteristics as long rainy season and high frequency of rain. The waste dump of the project is designed as a roller compacted rockfill dam, with an overall height of 84.8 m and a rockwork volume of 278 000 m3.This paper briefly introduces the characteristics and difficulties of the dam construction of 1 095 m waste dump, and describes the main key technologies adopted in the dam construction process to provide reference for similar engineering construction.
