Abstract: Hunlonghe iron deposit is one of the typical 'Dahongshan type' deposits in the intersection part of Honghe Fault and Lvzhijiang Fault, which regarded as the iron copper deposit that is commonly developed by lava cycle. In order to analyze the genetic mechanism of Hunlonghe iron deposit, the typical deposit geological characteristics, mineral assemblage characteristics and wall rock alteration are discussed in depth, based on the regional metallogenic background and the geological exploration results of the Hunlonghe iron deposit in Xinping county,Yunnan province.Besides that, the basic research results of the ore forming materials and ore controlling tectonic characteristics are also analyzed in detail. The results showed that:①the copper iron metallogenic belt is mainly controlled by stratigraphic harizon and sedimentary cycle, which belongs to volcanic eruption sedimentary metamorphism, and the iron metallogenic belt is mainly controlled by volacnic magma hydrothermal reformation, which belongs to volcano sedimentary reform genesis.②the structure, metamorphism and lithology lithofacies are controlled in different degree by the sedimentation/enrichment of mineralization. The basic tuffaceous schist, sodic tuff provided the abundant material source, and the deuteric hydrothermal upwelling and transported along the structures, which transformed/enriched the (mineralization) orebodies of early stages.③based on the lithologic association, wall rock alteration and structural characteristics,it is pointed out that the Manganghe Formation, sodic tuff and diabase gabbro, magma have better metallogenic potential, they can be regarded as the most favorite position for the further detailed exploration work.
