Abstract: The Yangmeigeng vanadium deposit is located in the depression zone of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in the southeastern margin of the Yangtze plate, belonging to the Jiul⁃ ing tungsten-molybdenum-copper-tin-gold polymetallic metallogenic subzone. In order to clarify the metallogenic control mechanism and regional prospecting direction of the deposit, this paper is based on the field geological survey of the mining area, the exposed data of the trench and the drilling project, com⁃ bined with the microscopic identification of the rock and ore,the chemical test of the main elements and the full analysis of the trace element spectrum. The geological characteristics, ore body distribution law, ore composition and geochemical characteristics of the deposit were systematically studied. The results show that the vanadium ore bodies in the mining area are strictly controlled by the stratigraphic horizon and all occur in the black rock series of the Lower Cambrian Hetang Formation. The ore bodies are layered and stratoid and are consistent with the stratigraphic occurrence. The average thickness of all ore bodies in the northern ore section is 2.84 ~ 3.32 m and the grade is 0.76 % ~ 0.90 %. The average thickness of all ore bodies in the southern ore section is 4.54 ~ 8.53 m and the grade is 0.75 % ~ 0.90 %. The overall exten⁃ sion is stable. The geochemical characteristics show that the contents of Al2O3,K2O,MgO and P2O5 in the ore are positively correlated, and the vanadium element is significantly positively correlated with redox sen⁃ sitive elements such as Cu,Ni,Zn and Cr. The enrichment degree of vanadium ore is controlled by litho⁃ logic grain size, carbon and phosphorus component content. The fine-grained shale with high carbon and high phosphorus is more conducive to the enrichment of vanadium ore. The ore-forming environment of the deposit is a neritic shelf tidal flat lagoon reducing sedimentary environment, which belongs to the typical black rock series sedimentary vanadium deposit. The adsorption of organic matter and clay minerals is the core ore-controlling mechanism of the initial enrichment of vanadium. The black carbonaceous shale as⁃ semblage of phosphorus-bearing nodules at the bottom of the Cambrian Hetang Formation is the most di⁃ rect prospecting indicator in the mining area. This favorable ore-bearing horizon is widely developed in northern Jiangxi, and the regional vanadium ore prospecting potential is huge.
