Abstract: The urban mining area has experienced the process of being separated from the independent mining area to be around by the city.Mine-city relationship has changed from the mining area actively independent of the city to the city′s active isolation of the mining area,it will face the reality that the mining area is passively integrated into the city.The internal special historical development process is intrinsic.The mechanism restricts the transformation of mining areas.Taking the Meishan mining area in Nanjing as an example,investigates urban mining areas and employees and analyzes the dilemma of its transformation into the city.It is mainly reflected in five aspects: the destructive of mining,the reuse of facilities,the retention and reuse of facilities,insufficient competitiveness under the influence of employee marginalization characteristics,the decline and strong demand for public service,and the poor redevelopment opportunities under the constraints of historical forms.On this basis,from the perspective of the city,it provides countermeasures for the transformation of urban mining areas into cities,to provide ideas for the transformation of urban mining areas.
